About the event

This our first Same Time Same Place Lunchtime Fitness Walk. We will start off the New Year tackling our fitness goals as a group. This Lunchtime Fitness Walk, will only be 28 min long or if you can stay, we will loop 1 more time as a group. Schedule this in your calendar to have a lunch appointment with this fun group each week. All fitness levels are welcome. We will be using walking interval training, heart rates and exertion rating scales to lead our personal pace as we walk.

Walking Movement Leader: Your leader will be Sarah Schwallier. She is a Member/Owner of Walk2Connect. Sarah is a personal trainer, certified in sports nutrition, nature walking life coach & TED Talk addict. Her hope is to help grow the ‘Life@3MPH Movement’ and help others experience some of the whole-health benefits, energy and pure joy that she receives from walking.

Schedule and Planning: We will meet at 12 pm at City Park Rec Center. We will meet in the parking lot area near the playground equipment just off Sheridan. We’ll talk through Walk2Connect goals, answer any questions and lightly warm up. We will start walking 12:05 and finish no later than 12:35. If you need to head back to work, you can leave otherwise, we will get in another loop as a group. Feel free to bring hand weights, walking poles or maybe even snow shoes.

Trip Notes:

No Dogs, please, on this walk.

Wear/Bring:Dress in warm layers. This will be winter time so trail shoes or light boots will be best. Also, bring hats, gloves, face protection, sunglasses and water.

Restrooms are available at the parking area before we go. Please plan to use restroom beforehand.

Accessibility: Strollers and Wheelchairs are welcome. Note: this will be around city park sidewalks so they may not be clear of ice and snow.

Cancellation Policy: We will cancel in extreme weather conditions on our path, such as ice, hail, or lightning or extreme snow. Check Meetup or text the walk leader for the most up-to-date condition - all who RSVP will get a notification.

Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” or download, print, sign, and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first Walk2Connect walking experience in 2018.
